Ginevro was the largest and most productive gallery in Europe, the pride of Italian steel production.
Operating from the seventies until 1981, it was one of Europe’s most modern underground mines, built with innovative criteria for the time. When mining stopped, only one third of the iron deposit had been exploited, so much so that Ginevro was labeled a "strategic state reserve".
You will board the typical Safari in the Mine vehicle, a large military jeep, which will take you to discover the most fascinating areas, up to the gallery entrance.
Wearing a helmet, we will start the adventure walking underground where Elban miners proudly suffered.
Two levels available: the first (+6 m a.s.l.) easy to access, suitable for all ages and lit,
the second (-24 m a.s.l.) reachable thanks to a decline with a stairway, with tunnels completely in the dark. Torches provided by the staff
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and a jacket; in the gallery it’s a constant 18°!
Included in the price, the visit to the Old Workshop museum, where you will find the history of the mines, the miners, and the environments they lived in.
