Ginevro was the largest and most productive gallery in Europe, the pride of Italian steel production.
Operating from the seventies until 1981, it was one of the most modern underground mines in Europe, built with innovative criteria for its time. At the time mining activity ceased, only a third of the iron deposit had been exploited, so much so that Ginevro was labeled as a "strategic reserve of the state".
You will board the typical Safari in the Mine vehicle, a large military jeep, which will take you to discover the most fascinating areas, up to the entrance of the gallery.
Armed with helmets and torches, we will begin the adventure walking underground where the Elban miners proudly suffered.
The views of Ginevro are of rare beauty and its "iron snakes," the conveyor belts, stand out in the sky forming wavy lines that will catch your eye.
The guide, an expert in the field, and an audio guide will accompany you, telling stories, anecdotes, and geology, for an interesting and fun excursion.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and a jacket, as there is a constant 18°C in the gallery!
Included in the price is a visit to the Old Workshop museum, where you will find the history of the mines, the quarrymen, and the environments they experienced.
